May

May is usually pretty rainy like April, but, the temperatures are also rising so I will adjust my watering as needed. I have irrigation so I bump it up to twice per day when it warms up.

I usually have all of my potatoes out of the ground before the middle of May. I am getting plenty of peas and beans. I am usually even getting some peppers at this point, based on when they went in.

Weeds really start popping up in May so maintenance mostly consists of pulling and burning weeds. I use a propane weed torch for burning weeds in my walking rows and also to keep the grass from creeping in around my borders.

I usually start seeing some powdery mildew on cucumbers in May, pillbugs, and something munching on leaves, but they don’t affect things too much.

Come Say Hey
