June

June means plenty of rain, I keep the irrigation on but don’t worry about it. Things can actually get pretty soggy so its important to keep some airflow where you can with spacing, and pruning.

Harvesting is plentiful in June, lots of tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. Some of my early blueberry varieties are producing now and blackberries start getting ripe in June.

There’s not too much maintenance to do in June, some weeding, and making sure there is enough air flow.

June means the squash vine borer. It gets my squash plants every year and I haven’t found a way to prevent them. My best strategy is just to let em lay there eggs and go in and dig out the worms. I also see some powdery mildew, and pickleworms on my cucumbers. Leaf-footed bugs are out and about so I go around squishing those as I am able.

Prep work in June is just staying the course. But keep in mind that some fall things will start in August so get ready to order any seeds you want.

Come Say Hey

Reach out on social media and I’ll do my best to stop and say hey!
